It was the day after the intense training session with Celric that Athren had found himself focused on his youngest child, he wanted to spend the day with her doing whatever the hell she wanted to do. Though it wouldn't exactly be the most amusing thing for Athren, he'd do it for his daughter. After all, it was only fair that he tried to spend equal time with the both of them. The early morning discussion with his daughter of what she wanted to do with the day had basically carved it out in stone, she knew their was limits and they weren't to go anywhere that was populated or mingle with Earthlings due to their reasoning for being here but there was plenty they could do all over the planet. If she wanted to explore new places, they could. If she wanted to spectate new animals, they absolutely could!
They had spent the early morning hours into the late afternoon doing just that, they had flown around to a bunch of new spots so she could play around and just be a kid. She didn't have to worry about a thing. It was all just quality time. Though in the mid afternoon they had found themselves on an island out in the ocean. They were surrounded by a handful of tree's and Athren had found himself just laying in the sand as his ocean blues looked up into the sky. Cress on the other hand was sitting up right and cross legged beside him digging into the book that she had. She was reading pretty intensely and in all honesty, Athren was pretty relaxed and just enjoying the moment. Even if there hadn't been many words spoken by them the last hour, he was happy because she was happy.
Though after a long silence she finally piped up and spoke, "Why'd you beat up on Celric yesterday? You know he's in really rough shape." If Athren had taken a moment to look into her eyes, they would've spoke wonders about how concerned she was about the whole incident. She could only hope that she wouldn't experience the same as her older brother.
Athren didn't even bother to flinch, he was too relaxed in the sand and just didn't want to ruin his comfort, though he did speak rather calmly and relaxed. "It was nothing more than a training session, I had a hard lesson to teach your brother and he came through on it. It was one of those lessons that are better learned sooner than later and I thought it best it be from me at a time where there was no actual threat." He sighed lightly thinking about the day prior and how bad Celric actually got it. "Unlike you, he wants to be a fighter. He wants to follow my footsteps and I'd rather have him prepared for it, it's a hard road and it's never easy. It's full of dangers and he has to get exposure to it early."
Athren believed what he said to be true, after all Celric didn't have a normal saiyan life. He didn't go on missions young that were low risk. He didn't get to experience defeat early on and never had to dig deep to push through before. Facing off against the wrong individual without that experience could be a fatal error and if that error could be corrected early on, it was for the best.
At this point Cress nodded as she tried to understand, though she was still concerned. "What about me? Do I need to learn that lesson?" She asked curiously, hoping that she wouldn't meet the same wrath.
At this point Athren sat up and looked over at her to give her a reassuring smile, followed by him shaking his head. "Well, that isn't exactly up to me now is it? You didn't want to train with me, whatever Zerori decides what lessons are best for you, is the lessons that you'll need to learn." Even if Cress was his daughter, he respected her choice. She wasn't interested in fighting until she laid her eyes on Zerori and he didn't want to strip that motivation to train away from her, the further he stayed away from her training the better, unless of course she approached him asking question. At that point it'd be a completely different story but for now, it wasn't his call and he was happy to keep it that way.
Cress once again nodded her head, trying to wrap her young mind around everything that her father was telling her. She didn't quite follow because after all, Athren was the parent and not Zerori but she wasn't going to go ahead and question it either. Cress really enjoyed her time with another female, she didn't really get to know her mom much but now that she was thinking about it, she couldn't help but ask. "What was mom like?"
This question right here was more than enough to catch him off guard, him and her mother weren't exactly on the best of terms anymore. Especially considered he just took the kids and left. "Your mother?" Athren chuckled nervously for a moment as he struggled to find the right words to say. It was one of those situations "Your mother is a very strong willed, powerful, saiyan woman. Loyal to the throne and her allies." There really wasn't much else to say about her, he didn't want to go into too much detail about it.
Cress had listened closely, this topic had seemed to draw her attention in the most. "So, she's kind of like Zerori?" Without a doubt Zerori made an impact, after all Zerori was the first adult woman in Cress' life that she could actually picture herself as, being both of the same heritage. She was the only example of what an adult female saiyan should be like. It was only natural that she'd be curious about this whole topic though.
